FAQs
Who is eligible for SHINE!?
SHINE! is a competitive, elite show choir experience for students in grades 5-8. Priority membership goes to students of St. Michael Parish School. IF there are additional openings, performers from the RE community/other diocesan schools/members of the community-at-large can be considered. Though SHINE! is a no-cut activity, all performers must be fully committed to rehearsals and performances. SMPS related conflicts (such as a volleyball game, etc.) should be communicated with SHINE! staff prior to the conflict.
Is there a maximum or minimum?
The maximum number of performers is 50. If there are more than 50 registrants, a waiting list will be formed. SHINE! must have a minimum 36 performers to operate and compete.
Is there an attendance policy?
As a competitive group, attendance at rehearsals and performances is expected and critical to the team. Please communicate conflicts upon registration when possible.
When are Rehearsals?
Regular Rehearsals: Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:20-3:30pm
Choreography/dress rehearsals will extend to 5pm (approximately 1-2 times/month)
Rehearsal/Performance Season is September 10 through mid-March
When are Performances & Competitions?
Thursday, December 11 Christmas Concert PRELUDE
January 23-24 OR January 30-31 (TBD) Shine’s GOT TALENT workshop and performance (SMS or local)
Friday, Feb. 13 (“Fort Showcase” at Fort Atkinson, WI - Defending champs!)
Friday, March 6 Chicagoland Showcase (Arlington Heights IL)
Wednesday, March 18: SHINE! Spring Concert (features SHINE!, SHINE! Jr, Wee SHINE!)
Guest appearance at Senior Citizen Valentine Party for SMS parish community (February)
Grandparents’ Day performance TBA (May)
Tuition
Tuition now includes main costume
$330/mo. due Sept 10, Oct. 10, Nov. 10, Dec. 10, January 10. Includes main costume.
Payment in full $1550 reflects $100 savings
Tuition due 9/10 via Zelle using Mrs. Petrando’s email: jpetrando@stmichaelcommunity.org
or pay by cash/check (payable to SHINE LLC) in a marked envelope to the main office.
If your Zelle has a maximum cap under the full-payment amount, you can split into two payments in September to still count as “payment in full.”
No refunds after September 11
Additional supplies for SHINE! such as personal items (undergarments, tights, performance shoes, etc.) and supplemental costume pieces and/or musical supplies should be expected; Instructions as to when/where to purchase those items (along with discount codes, etc., when applicable) will be provided.
