ATHLETICS
We Are the Lancers!
St. Michael students in fifth through eighth grade are eligible to participate in a wide variety of sports including; volleyball, cross country, basketball, and track and field. All programs sponsored by St. Michael School have a "no cut" policy, with the focus of each sport being to help each child enjoy the learning of skills and the experience of participating in an organized team sport. Club style sports are available depending on parent leadership/availability for Golf (at Cantigny Youth Links), Floor Hockey, and Tennis (at Wheaton Sports Center).

FALL - Cross Country
Open to boys and girls in 5th - 8th grades. Uniforms are provided.
FALL - Volleyball
Open to girls and boys in 5th - 8th grades. The season starts in the third week of August and ends the week before Thanksgiving. Uniforms are provided.
WINTER - Basketball
Open to boys and girls in 5th - 8th grades. The season begins in October and ends in March. Uniforms are provided.
SPRING - Track & Field
Open to boys and girls in 5th - 8th grades. The season begins in March and ends in May. Uniforms are provided.
Athletic Policy
All children of St. Michael Parish School are encouraged to participate in the Athletic Programs of the school. These programs are designed to contribute to each child's physical and emotional well being. Participation and enjoyment are the foremost goals. It should be remembered that athletics shall always remain secondary to the child's academics.
Coaching
St. Michael teams are coached by volunteers, primarily by team parents. Administration for all programs is provided by the Athletic Director and the Athletic Board. All coaches must complete the Protecting God's Children Workshop.
All St. Michael athletes are required to provide their coaching staff with a St. Michael Athletic Emergency Form.
The Lancer Award
Good sportsmanship is valued above all else in St. Michael athletics. Congratulations to our students honored with the Lancer Award for each team! They have been chosen by their peers to receive the Lancer Award for consistently showing the qualities of good sportsmanship throughout the season. These qualities are:
Accepts loss or defeat without complaint and enjoys victory without gloating
Shows courtesy and respect toward fellow teammates, coaches, officials and opponents
Performs to the best of his/ her ability and consistently attends practices and competitions
Doesn’t give up
Shows teamwork and team spirit
Encourages and compliments fellow teammates
