AGW 1/30
Dear Lancer Families,
We had a wonderful week celebrating Catholic Schools Week at St. Michael Parish School! It was great to continue many of our favorite traditions while also adding a few new ones.
We kicked off the week with our annual Spelling Bee on Monday. As always, it was a close competition, and we were so impressed by our talented spellers. Congratulations to Sophia Mendoza (6th grade) for taking first place, followed by Violet Fairhead (4th grade) in second and Alex King (5th grade) in third. Well done to all the students who made it to the final round.
On Tuesday, students enjoyed a fun performance by the St. Francis Jazz/Rock Band, made even more special by the many SMPS alumni and siblings of current students in the group. Wednesday’s All-School Liturgy was a beautiful time to pray together, and it was wonderful to have so many parents and grandparents join us. Thursday brought Buddy Class activities, and we wrapped up the week on Friday with our traditional Fun Day celebrations for all grade levels.
Throughout the week, students participated in the Walking Rosary, collected donations for Feed My Starving Children and the local food pantry, and took part in a new book drive for Bernie’s Books. We are so proud of the many ways our students lived out their faith during Catholic Schools Week.
Thank you to our amazing parent volunteers, the SMPO Board, and all who helped make the week so special. A special thank you as well to Megan Nagel and Sam Haas for hosting a delicious Staff Appreciation Luncheon—we are so grateful for your kindness and support!
Gala Update: We are thrilled to share the final numbers from our Annual Blue & Gold Gala! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised over $350,000. After expenses and meeting our $100,000 budget requirement, $205,000 will be added directly to the Teacher Endowment Fund. Donations and corporate matching gifts are still being accepted, and every additional contribution helps strengthen our ability to support and retain the exceptional educators who make St. Michael Parish School so special. Thank you for your continued generosity!
School Effectiveness Survey: The DOJ School Effectiveness Survey expires TOMORROW (1/31/26). Please click your household’s unique survey link that was emailed to you to access the survey and complete it as a household. It should take no more than 15 minutes. Do not forward the survey link as it is unique to your household. While all custodial adults in your household received a link to the survey, only one response per household will be accepted. Your participation helps us better serve our students, schools and communities.
Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!
