AGW - Summer Send Off
Dear Lancer Families,
As we begin summer break, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has truly been an outstanding school year at St. Michael Parish School.
This year was filled with countless accomplishments, memorable experiences, and opportunities for growth. I am incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, perseverance, faith, and commitment to excellence. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, through service projects, or in their daily interactions with others, our students continually demonstrated what it means to live out our mission with hearts in motion and faith in action.
Thank You Staff - A successful school year is only possible because of the dedication of so many people. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our faculty and staff for their unwavering commitment to our students. Their hard work, patience, creativity, and dedication make St. Michael Parish School a truly special place. They consistently go above and beyond to provide an exceptional educational experience rooted in faith and academic excellence.
Thank You Parents - I would also like to thank our parents and families for your tremendous support throughout the year. Your partnership, generosity, volunteerism, and trust are invaluable to our school community. We are blessed to have such dedicated families who continually support our mission and help make our school stronger.
SMPS Field Day - One of the highlights of the year was our inaugural SMPS Field Day. What an incredible way to celebrate the end of the school year and create a new school tradition! The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm displayed by our students throughout the day were a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from being together as a school community.
A special thank you goes to our SMPO and the many parent volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to make the day run so smoothly. Your efforts helped create a memorable experience for every student. Thank you as well to our faculty and staff for embracing this new event with such enthusiasm, flexibility, and positivity.
I would also like to offer a huge thank you to Jim Wolf for the many months of planning, preparation, and leadership that went into making Field Day such an overwhelming success. His attention to detail and tireless efforts were evident throughout the entire event. Every aspect was thoughtfully planned and expertly executed, allowing students and staff alike to simply enjoy an outstanding day together.
Construction Updates
This summer will be an exciting and busy one at St. Michael Parish School as we undertake three significant improvement projects both inside and outside our building.
Inside the Building - The first project is the renovation of our school kitchen. Thanks to the tremendous support of our school community and the funds raised through this year's Lancer Dash, we will be able to make much-needed improvements to this important space that serves our students every day.
We will also be replacing several bricks in the school atrium that were removed during the plumbing repairs completed earlier this fall. These repairs will help restore the atrium and maintain the beauty of our school facility.
Willow Avenue Project - The largest project, and the one that will have the greatest impact on our school and parish community, is the Willow Avenue Project.
The project officially begins on June 1 when the City of Wheaton starts replacing the water main beneath Willow Avenue. Beginning June 8, demolition of the former bank building and the adjacent green space/parking lot area will commence.
During this phase of construction, the school parking lot will remain accessible, but traffic patterns will change significantly:
Entry to the school parking lot will be from Illinois Street only.
Vehicles will proceed down the ramp past the St. Michael statue and into the school lot.
Exit from the lot will be by left turn only onto Willow Avenue and then out to West Street.
Please exercise extreme caution when turning onto West Street, as this can be a challenging intersection.
Students participating in Mr. Farmer's summer basketball camps will utilize this traffic pattern for both drop-off and pick-up.
In mid-July, once the City completes the water main replacement, the school parking lot will be closed entirely so the next phase of construction can begin. The overall Willow Avenue Project is currently scheduled for completion in late October.
As you can imagine, the closure of Willow Avenue and the main school parking lot will significantly affect access to Door 1. We will communicate detailed plans for school drop-off and pick-up later this summer as construction progresses and more information becomes available.
Summer Office Access
Due to construction activities, the school office will have limited and occasionally sporadic summer office hours.
If you need to visit the school office, drop off materials, or meet with a staff member, we strongly encourage you to call ahead at (630) 665-1454 to ensure someone is available to assist you.
For families dropping off forms, tuition payments, registration materials, or other paperwork, please place all items in an envelope clearly labeled with:
Your name
Your child's name
The word "SCHOOL" prominently displayed on the front
These items may be dropped off at Door 8 in the Parish Office and will be delivered to the school office.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us by phone at (630) 665-1454 or by email at schooloffice@stmichaelcommunity.org.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility throughout the construction process. While these projects may create some temporary inconveniences, they represent important investments in the future of St. Michael Parish School and our parish community. We look forward to sharing progress updates throughout the summer.
And finally, as we close another successful school year, I wish all of our students, families, and staff a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer. Thank you for making this year such a blessing.
Please be on the lookout for future emails throughout the summer regarding construction updates, important school information, and details about the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
May God continue to bless you and your families, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall for another wonderful year at St. Michael Parish School.
Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!

Hello SMPS Families!
Before the school year sneaks up on us, here’s why grabbing a school supply box kit is kind of the best idea ever:
No scavenger hunts — You won’t need divine intervention to find wide‑ruled paper in August.
Teacher-approved — Kits include exactly what our Catholic school teachers request, down to the last glue stick.
Built-in consistency — Every student starts with the same high‑quality supplies, which helps classrooms run smoothly.
Supports the school community — This is a fundraiser for St. Michael.
A little extra peace — And who doesn’t want more peace? St. Michael would be proud.
One click = done — A small miracle in itself. School Supply Kit pre-orders will be shipped DIRECTLY TO SCHOOL, LABELED and DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD'S CLASSROOM before the 1st day of school. You can also choose to have your kit shipped to your home.
Let’s make back‑to‑school season a LOT easier for everyone.
If you have any questions, please email Celia Tagliareni - celiaryan11@gmail.com
Thank you!

School Calendar: The much anticipated 2026–2027 School Calendar is now available for viewing! Please click this LINK to access the full calendar and begin planning for the upcoming school year. As we do each year, we work hard to align our calendar with District 200 whenever possible to help limit the number of “No Bus Days” for our families. We also make every effort to stay in sync with other local Catholic High Schools, recognizing that many families have older children attending those schools. We hope this early release helps your family plan ahead for the year!
