AGW 5/8
Dear Lancer Families,
Another exciting week as we close in on the end of the school year!
This week, our 8th graders celebrated a beautiful All School Mass which included our annual May Crowning of Mary. This year, Abbey Egan was chosen by her classmates to crown Mary. The May Crowning Court included Lyla Garcia, Maddie Grotts, Morgan Fanter, and Quinn Foley. Following Mass, the 8th graders led the entire school in praying the Living Rosary. It was such a blessed annual tradition and a wonderful example of faith leadership from our graduating class.
This past Saturday, our 2nd graders also celebrated their First Holy Communion. Our 2nd grade teachers have done such a wonderful job preparing the students throughout the year for this blessed sacrament. We are so proud of our students as they continue taking the next step in their faith journey.
We have a busy couple of weeks ahead! Next week, our 8th graders will celebrate their Confirmation, followed a week later by Graduation. (Please note: the Graduation Mass will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Church.)
On May 13th, we will celebrate our SMPO Recognition Mass, where new board members will be seated and staff milestones recognized. Then, on May 20th, we will honor our School Board Members at Mass, thanking those rolling off the board for their service and welcoming our new members.
In between all of that, we still have many exciting activities ahead…final field trips, the 7th grade mini-performance of Cinderella, the 8th Grade Chicago Trip, Preschool and Kindergarten Picnics, and our newest event, SMPS Field Day, which I shared details about yesterday. While many events are shared here or posted on the FACTS calendar, please take note of class-specific events from your child’s teacher, as we have a lot coming up!
Hold on tight, because it’s going to be a wild, and wonderful, ride to the finish!
Fun Food Friday: Our last Fun Food Friday (FFF) will be Jimmy John’s on Friday, May 15th.
Quest Hot Lunch: Our last Hot Lunch will be on May 21st! Be sure to pack a school lunch after that.
Annual ALUMNI Welcome Back Event: On Tuesday, May 26th from 2:30-3:30 we invite all St. Mike’s alumni who are now Seniors and Freshman to come back and visit with the Teachers and Staff. Click to view invite!
Last Day of School: Our last day of school will be Thursday, May 28th. We will celebrate our Final All School Mass at 8:00am followed by popsicles in the parking lot before dismissing at 10:00am.
Willow Ave Project Update: The much anticipated Willow Ave. Project is well underway — behind the scenes! The City of Wheaton will begin replacing the water main starting June 1st, and this phase of the project is expected to take several weeks to complete. Simultaneously, we will begin demolition of the old bank property and surrounding green space. Once the City completes its portion of the work, the project will move into full swing throughout the summer and fall as crews work to unify our properties into ONE CAMPUS. This is truly a generational project that will have a lasting impact on both our school and parish community for years to come. Construction will continue into the fall, and we will provide regular updates as the project progresses. Please stay tuned for more information in early August regarding the impact on logistics, including traffic patterns, carline drop-off and pick-up procedures, and school entry points. Despite the construction, we remain excited to welcome students back in August! We will still begin the school year with Supply Day on Monday, August 17th, followed by the First Official Day of School on Tuesday, August 18th.Make it a day, Lancers!!

Hello SMPS Families!
Before the school year sneaks up on us, here’s why grabbing a school supply box kit is kind of the best idea ever:
No scavenger hunts — You won’t need divine intervention to find wide‑ruled paper in August.
Teacher-approved — Kits include exactly what our Catholic school teachers request, down to the last glue stick.
Built-in consistency — Every student starts with the same high‑quality supplies, which helps classrooms run smoothly.
Supports the school community — This is a fundraiser for St. Michael.
A little extra peace — And who doesn’t want more peace? St. Michael would be proud.
One click = done — A small miracle in itself. School Supply Kit pre-orders will be shipped DIRECTLY TO SCHOOL, LABELED and DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD'S CLASSROOM before the 1st day of school. You can also choose to have your kit shipped to your home.
Let’s make back‑to‑school season a LOT easier for everyone.
If you have any questions, please email Celia Tagliareni - celiaryan11@gmail.com
Thank you!

As we near the Feast of the Annunciation, when it was announced to our Mother Mary, that she would bear the Christ child, the St. Michael School Lancers for Life Club and the St. Michael Parish Respect Life Committee wanted to provide you and your family an opportunity to participate in a spiritual adoption prayer campaign along with the parish community. This program is a simple, yet effective pro-life activity that involves components of prayer, education, and outreach. The first step involves pledging to pray for the protection of a baby in the womb starting on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25th. We pray over the course of 9 months and finish on December 25 th , the birth of our Lord. We encourage you to give a name to the unborn baby you are praying for as a simple reminder that you are asking God to protect the life and health of a specific baby in his/her mother’s womb whose life and health may be in danger.
At the bottom of this paper is a prayer/pledge card written by the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Please cut out the prayer card for you to keep and use to pray daily for the baby you have “adopted.” Additionally, cut out the pledge heart and send it back the to school office as a pledge that you will pray daily for the next nine months. Your pledge hearts will be posted in the school as a sign that you and your family are praying for these innocent unborn babies.
We are also attaching a milestone chart with cool facts of the development of the baby inside the mother’s womb like when the baby’s heart starts beating, when a baby starts sucking his/her thumb, when the mother will start to feel the baby kicking, and other fun facts about his/her growth. As you are praying for this baby over the next nine months, these facts can help you be aware of the baby’s growth and development.
Please prayerfully consider participating in this simple program and add your prayers to thousands of others! Just like we pray for people who are walking among us, we want to pray for and be aware of babies growing in their mothers’ wombs, who are worthy of our love and compassion. Help the Lancers for Life and the Parish Respect Life Committee make sure these babies are prayed for and not forgotten.
In Christ,
Lancers for Life

School Calendar: The much anticipated 2026–2027 School Calendar is now available for viewing! Please click this LINK to access the full calendar and begin planning for the upcoming school year. As we do each year, we work hard to align our calendar with District 200 whenever possible to help limit the number of “No Bus Days” for our families. We also make every effort to stay in sync with other local Catholic High Schools, recognizing that many families have older children attending those schools. We hope this early release helps your family plan ahead for the year!
💬 Reminder! Order hot lunch! New students will need an ID number to complete the order. For your student’s meal order ID number, log into FACTS and click Resource Documents under School. Scroll down to: My Meal Order 25-26 students.

The pledge is already active for the current first grade class at St. Mikes, which means over ten families have signed. If you are interested in signing up, please do so at https://www.waituntil8th.org. Any questions, please direct to Joyce Tumminaro and Teresa Westfall.
