AGW 5/14
Dear Lancer Families,
We are officially in the final countdown to the end of the school year… just 9 more school days remain! It is hard to believe how quickly this year has gone by, and these final days are filled with many special moments for our students and staff.
This week, we celebrated a beautiful Confirmation Ceremony with our 8th graders. It was a wonderful opportunity to witness our students continue their faith journey as they received the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We are so proud of them and all they have accomplished during their time at SMPS. As they prepare for their final days as Lancers, we know they are also looking forward to their graduation next Wednesday, a milestone that will no doubt be both joyful and emotional for many families.
State Track & Field: This weekend, we also have a number of Lancers competing in the State Track & Field Meet. Congratulations to all of our athletes for their tremendous effort, dedication, and success throughout the season.
4 x 100M Relay - Anthony Cataquiz, Arjun Bana, Maximus Garcia, CJ Kolinski (alternate for Leo Sendek who qualified but is unable to compete)
Shot Put - Maximus Garcia
800M - Kate Henkel
1600M - Kate Henkel
4 x 400M Relay - Morgan Fanter, Stella Carrasco, Emma Jourdan, Quinn Foley
We wish them the very best as they represent SMPS at the state level!
Years of Service: We would like to recognize and celebrate the members of our staff who recently reached milestone years of service at St. Michael Parish School. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, commitment, and the countless ways they have positively impacted our students, families, and school community over the years. Their hard work, faith-filled leadership, and love for our mission help make SMPS such a special place. We thank them for their many years of service and continued devotion to our school family!

And a VERY special congratulations goes to Mr. Cashin as he celebrates an incredible 55 years at St. Michael Parish School. Mr. Cashin is one of the most caring, compassionate, thoughtful, and faith-filled members of our staff. He truly represents the essence of what it means to be a Lancer. Generations of students and families have benefitted from his presence — from his years teaching and coaching in the gym, to his help in the lunchroom, to the countless stories he shares about students and families throughout the years. He is a true gentleman, one of a kind, and a treasured part of our school community. Thank you, Mr. Cashin, for enriching the lives of so many students over the past 55 years. Your impact on St. Michael Parish School is immeasurable.
Cashin/Flynn Scholarship: We were also proud to recognize this year’s Cashin/Flynn Scholarship recipients during Mass this week. Students submitted applications and wrote essays as part of the selection process for this merit-based scholarship opportunity. These $1,000 tuition scholarships are awarded annually to two students in each of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. We would like to thank all of the students who applied and congratulate this year’s recipients:
6th Grade: Nora Boland & Frannie O'Donnell
7th Grade: Maggie Lavin & Sophia Mendoza
8th Grade: Kate Henkel & Anthony Cataquiz
Congratulations to these outstanding students for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
As we head into these final days of the school year, thank you for your continued partnership, support, and prayers. Let’s finish the year strong together!
Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!

Hello SMPS Families!
Before the school year sneaks up on us, here’s why grabbing a school supply box kit is kind of the best idea ever:
No scavenger hunts — You won’t need divine intervention to find wide‑ruled paper in August.
Teacher-approved — Kits include exactly what our Catholic school teachers request, down to the last glue stick.
Built-in consistency — Every student starts with the same high‑quality supplies, which helps classrooms run smoothly.
Supports the school community — This is a fundraiser for St. Michael.
A little extra peace — And who doesn’t want more peace? St. Michael would be proud.
One click = done — A small miracle in itself. School Supply Kit pre-orders will be shipped DIRECTLY TO SCHOOL, LABELED and DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD'S CLASSROOM before the 1st day of school. You can also choose to have your kit shipped to your home.
Let’s make back‑to‑school season a LOT easier for everyone.
If you have any questions, please email Celia Tagliareni - celiaryan11@gmail.com
Thank you!

School Calendar: The much anticipated 2026–2027 School Calendar is now available for viewing! Please click this LINK to access the full calendar and begin planning for the upcoming school year. As we do each year, we work hard to align our calendar with District 200 whenever possible to help limit the number of “No Bus Days” for our families. We also make every effort to stay in sync with other local Catholic High Schools, recognizing that many families have older children attending those schools. We hope this early release helps your family plan ahead for the year!
💬 Reminder! Order hot lunch! New students will need an ID number to complete the order. For your student’s meal order ID number, log into FACTS and click Resource Documents under School. Scroll down to: My Meal Order 25-26 students.
Way to go, Preschool 4 students! We loved your Spring Sing red carpet show!

The pledge is already active for the current first grade class at St. Mikes, which means over ten families have signed. If you are interested in signing up, please do so at https://www.waituntil8th.org. Any questions, please direct to Joyce Tumminaro and Teresa Westfall.
